Seafood Training Academy Open Day - 7th November 2012

The Open Day has been a wonderful success, my thanks to the presenters, demonstrators and everyone else who lent a hand to organise and deliver it. And my thanks to the delegates who attended and who were so interested in what we had to tell them.

  • Fishmongering Skills demonstration - by the National Federation of Fishmongers
  • Filleting and Hand processing skills demonstration - by the National Federation of Fishmongers
  • Fish Quality Assessment demonstration - by a Seafish approved trainer


Conference Highlights

The audience for being so attentive and patient through the long, but interesting day.

Micro Kiln - Unveiling of the prototype of the new AFOS Micro Kiln - a free standing kiln for small businesses, caterers and NPD in bigger businesses.
Reducing Re offending- the role of training and the Smokery at HMP Haverigg. The audience and other speakers were particularly impressed with the work carried out by HMP Haverigg to reduce Re offending by delivering skills training in smoking and developing a work ethos amongst inmates working in the Prison Smokery.
