Level 3 Award in Fish and Shellfish Product Knowledge

Qualification Purpose

This qualification is designed for learners who are working in the fish and shellfish processing and retail industry. It offers learners the opportunity to develop knowledge required to prove competence. It will also suit learners who are competent at core industry activities and are looking for ways of developing their existing skills and knowledge in fish and shellfish product knowledge.

This award comprises of two mandatory units. To achieve the full level 3 Award, learners must achieve the following two units:

These two underpinning knowledge units represent a substantial body of seafood industry knowledge and provide significant opportunities (and challenges) to training providers to develop training programmes and sources of information for learners.

As all the Units that make up this qualification are at level 3, the resulting VRQ is also be at level 3.

The content of both units has already been approved and these units are available as part of a Level 3 workbased fish and shellfish qualification available as part of an advanced apprenticeship in fish and shellfish industry skills.
