Background

In England, from 2017/18 Trailblazer Apprenticeships will replace almost all of the existing apprenticeship frameworks.

Fishmongers have been given approval to develop their own trailblazer, and fish friers are awaiting a response to their August 2015 application to BIS.

The new Trailblazer Apprenticeship will replace the existing fish and shellfish apprenticeship.

A meeting of fish friers and mongers was held in early 2015 to discuss this initiative.

Fishmongering Trailblazer

Fishmonger met in November 2015 and again in January 2016 and have agreed a draft standard. The group will meet again in March to finalise that standard. Before then they wish to consult with as many fishmongers as possible on the detail of the 2 page standard.
