The two Seafish recognised Apprenticeship Providers in Northern Ireland are Southern Regional College and Belfast Metropolitan College.

SRC and BMC are able to support Apprenticeships in all of the onshore sectors of the fish and shellfish industry so please contact them about your needs.

SRC have been active in fish and shellfish apprenticeships since 2014 and BMC started Apprenticeship support in September 2015, specialising initially in delivery of fish and shellfish apprenticeships for fish friers.

For more information and guidance please email with your full contact details and we'll contact you.

Employers in Northern Ireland are well served by apprenticeship funding, particularly for younger employees and new entrants.

    Northern Ireland Frameworks

Level 2 Apprenticeships - Food and Drink Apprenticeships ( fish and shellfish = Route 5)

Level 3 Apprenticeships - Food and Drink Apprenticeships ( fish and shellfish = Route 6)

Although fish and shellfish apprenticeships are available through City and Guilds (and at Intermediate level through the Pearson Group), Seafish recognised apprenticeship providers usually use the awarding organisation Food and Drink Qualifications. FDQ have provided important enhancements to the frameworks and have worked closely with Seafish to ensure the best possible service is available to employers and apprentices.
