Background to the Trailblazer
The Fishmonger Trailblazer Apprenticeship was developed during 2015 to 2017.
The Apprenticeship Standard was developed and approved in 2016, with the
Assessment Plan approved in 2017.
Only after the approval of these two key documents could the work continue to develop the End Point
Assessment and External Quality Assurance parts of the programme.
This will take some time and while it is being completed, the first batch of apprentices will be able to begin their development of the skills,
knowldge and behaviours needed to become competent Fishmongers and complete their apprenticeships.

5th Fishmonger Trailblazer Meeting
Fish Friers Training Academy, Leeds, Monday 24th October 2016 at 1000 hrs.
A very well attended meeting. Final version of the Standard agreed. Assessment plan progressed.
New members sought - Fishmongers in England wishing to participate in this project are invited to contact L Cooper at Seafish. "As we move into the final half of the project it is important that we have more fishmongers at the meetings to help us agree how fishmonger apprenticeships will be delivered and supported in England from 2017/18 onwards" said Lee Cooper of Seafish. "We expect to finish this development sometime in 2017 so now is the right time to get involved"
Who can be a member - any fishmonger based in England. Small or large businesses welcome.

Date of Next meeting - to be confirmed after the approval of the Assessment Plan and confirmation on funding in 2017.
4th Fishmonger Trailblazer Meeting
The 4th meeting of the Trailblazer Employer group was held in Leeds on the 13th June.
The standard was accepted by BIS subject to a few minor revisions. The proposal to mandate a Level 2 fishmongering qualification was not accepted and was the source of much discussion by the fishmongers present.
It was agreed that a mandated qualification was needed and that evidenced of support from fishmongers should be sought via this survey.
Next meeting planned for October.
3rd Fishmonger Trailblazer Meeting
Monday 7th March, NFFF Training School, Leeds
The meeting was held on the 7th March. The Standard was revised and is ready for submission. Letters of support are required from fishmongers.

2nd Fishmonger Trailblazer Meeting
