Scottish Shellfish Training Centre

Shellfish Training Centre Contact Details

•Scottish Shellfish Training Centre is currently without a trainer, and training is being delivered by the Southern Shellfish Training Centre. As soon as a trainer is recruited and approved by Seafish normal services will be resumed. In the meantime please contact the Southern Shellfish Training Centre or Seafish.

•Seafish coordinator for these programmes is Lee Cooper

The Bivalve Purification Operations and Inspections training courses are accreditted by the Royal Environmental Health Institute for Scotland.

Both Centres work together with Seafish to provide a UK wide service, providing operations training to depuration centres across the UK.

Additionally, Seafish supports the training of EHOs.

The training of Environmental Health Officers for the Food Standards Agency (FSA) and Food Standards Scotland (FSS) is delivered by either of the Training Centres, supported by Andy MacLeod who delivers the Bivalve Purification Inspections part of the two-day shellfish hygiene programme.

The purpose of the two-day programme is to equip EHOs with the knowledge required to undertake balanced and proportionate inspections of depuration and dispatch centres.
