This Topic Page provides contact details of Seafish recognised apprenticeship providers and (for England only) the new trailblazer apprenticeship training providers.
In Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland, apprenticeships in the onshore fish and shellfish industry are based on the fish and shellfish framework qualifications.
In England, since May 2017, apprenticeships for the fish and shellfish sectors have been based on the new trailblazer standards for food operations (processing sector), fishmongering and production cooking (fish frying).
If you cannot find what you want then please email firstname.lastname@example.org and explain clearly the information you need.
Seafish and the Seafood Training Academy work with Centres approved by FDQ, SQA, Pearson Group, or City and Guilds to deliver fish and shellfish vocational qualifications.
The Centres featured on this webpage have agreed a code of practice with Seafish to deliver vocational qualifications to learners in the fish and shellfish industry. The code of practice contains a commitment by both Seafish and the Centre to provide employers and prospective learners with information, advice and guidance, and to share such information as will help Seafish to ensure that the fish and shellfish industry and individual employers are able to best benefit from the standards that make up these vocational qualifications.
Most of these centres are FDQ Ltd approved centres for fish and shellfish industry skills qualifications, although Pearson Group, City and Guilds and Scottish Qualifications Authority also offer fish and shellfish vocational qualifications and apprenticeships.
Some, but not all of the following providers will be able to support trailblazer apprenticeships in food and drink operations (for fish processors and merchants), fishmongering and production cooking (for fish friers).
We are working on a new Trailblazer Provider webpage for England that will give details on on programme providers and end point assessment organisations. In the meantime please contact one of the possible providers below to find out what support they can offer.

Online Study Guides for the Level 3 Fish and Shellfish Framework
Free Seafood Guides
Seafish publishes a highly informative Guide to Seafood with 63 pages full of detailed information on fish and shellfish and the seafood industry. Copies of the Guide are available from Seafish at a cost of £5 each or £2.50 each for orders of 50 Guides or more.
Seafish recognised apprenticeship providers and some selected Seafish trainers are eligible for free guides for staff and apprentices (fish and shellfish) and trainees on some courses. These can be ontained directly from Seafish Onshore Training. To request free Seafood Guides please contact Denise Day at our Grimsby office and ask for the order form for free guides.
We will need to know the name of recipients of the Guide and confirmation of the programme they are on. In order to ensure that apprentices are given a Guide as part of their signup, each apprenticeship provider can be provided with 25 Guides as an initial 'float' which can be replenished whenever they send back a completed order form for free guides.
